In our activities and decisions, we are guided by our environmental policy, which provides a clear framework for action. We avoid environmental pollution and work to minimise the environmental impact resulting from our operations.
We address environmental issues in a systematic manner, taking a long-term perspective.
We follow a ten-point environmental policy that helps us take the surrounding environment into account in a comprehensive and responsible way.
Well-designed environmental management
We apply an environmental management system in accordance with the international ISO 14001 standard to ensure resource-efficient and sustainable operations. We continuously monitor and improve our environmental management system.
At the Iru combined heat and power plant, we have additionally implemented the European Union’s EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental management system and have held EMAS registration since 2006.
Compared to an ISO-based environmental management system, EMAS requires a higher level of transparency and credibility in communicating a company’s environmental performance to external stakeholders.
